DeWALT DW7480 Compact Table Saw Review: Small But Mighty
A portable table saw can be a monster of a machine: tough, powerful, and capable of cutting thick blocks of wood like a knife through butter. The right saw will tear through everything you throw at it without breaking a sweat. Finding the perfect saw — something durable and compatible with your style — can be a challenge, though. There are a lot of machines out there, and it can get a little confusing if you don’t know what to look for.
DeWALT is a well-known table saw manufacturer with a positive reputation. They have some of the best saws around, when it comes to quality as well as power. Their models have been tried and tested extensively by countless users, so you can be sure they work well, and they can take a great deal of abuse. The DeWALT DW7480 is one of their most popular saws– it’s reasonably priced, safe, and it gets the job done.

What makes this table saw a powerful beast?
The DeWALT is a powerful beast, but it is compact and lightweight at the same time. It’s significantly lighter than many of its competitors, which can be a good thing if you move around a lot. Another feature of this model you’ll appreciate is the above-average, robust 15-amp motor. It’s capable of spinning at a very high 4,800 RPM, letting you saw through 24-inch wooden blocks with ease.
You don’t have to worry so much about accidents with this model. It comes with a no-tool blade guard, which works even at a 45-degree angle. The anti-kickback system will ensure it doesn’t buckle in your hand. The blade tilts slightly to the left to reduce kickbacks.

Top Dewalt DW7480 /7480XA Questions
Can you use Dado blades with the DW7480?
No, you can’t use a dwe7480 dado blade with the DW7480. The arbor isn’t long enough to fit a full ¾” dado blade set. That’s because the motor isn’t strong enough for the added stress these blades bring with them. Some people have managed to force them fit, but we don’t recommend you do so — that’s how accidents happen. The DeWALT DW7490 does support the feature, on the other hand, if it’s a deal breaker.
DW745 vs Dwe7480?
When we go dwe7480 vs dw745, which is better? The DW7480 is a significant step up over the DW745 model. It is about 3.5″ longer and wider than the latter, and the motor is capable of a 1000 RPMs more. The DW745 only lets you cut through 16 inches of wood (the rip capacity). If you’re stuck between the two, you won’t regret spending extra on the DW745.
Which standout features do you need to know about?
The DW7480 has an excellent adjustable fence. There’s a simple knob that lets you adjust it to your liking quickly. The fence is a rack-and-pinion build that keeps the wood aligned, and it can extend to both the left and the right. The cuts are precise and stable — you can cut off an inch from a 1 and ½” piece.
What blade does it include?
The Dewalt dwe7480 table saw comes with a 24T Carbide blade — it has 24 “teeth.” The default blade is strong and durable, and it should last you a while. It will eventually wear out, though, and you’ll need tools to install a replacement. You can use most major brand names with this machine, like a 40T Diablo. Which is the best blade to use? It’s all about personal taste.
Is there a dewalt dw7480 table saw stand?
The DeWALT7480XA model comes equipped with a stand, by default. For the default version, you can use DeWALT stands, though they aren’t cheap. You can also (probably) use an old stand with it, if you have one lying around you used with an older saw. Some people choose to build new wooden stands for themselves — it’s easy and they make for a good test run for the machine.
It’s not often you see a machine that’s powerful, compact, and affordable. There’s a three-year warranty with purchase, so the manufacturer built it to last. We believe it’s one of the best portable table saw around and we’ll end our dewalt dwe7480 review by recommending the purchase.
